Good Listening Today, I'm glad that the English lesson of my son is about good listening. I had the privilege of going through this lesson with him as a homeschooling mom. You know why good listening is important? One reason is that many times people just hear but not listen. When one listens, he understands. That spells the big difference between conflicts and agreements, miscommunication and understanding in all sorts of relationship. A second reason is that it drastically affects the desired results of the one speaking. For example, if I want my son to do something and he just hears me, most probably he won't do it because he did not listen and understand what I was saying. To be a good listener, one must look at the speaker, if at all possible. He must focus and think about what the speaker is saying. Never interrupt the speaker. Listen first, after the speaker is finished, he can ask questions or voice out his opinions. After our lesson, I believe my son will be a better listener and doer as well. Not only him, but I, myself, must practice what is taught.
